Today, CP students experienced 'learning outside of the walls', consisting of a private tour of the Capitol and a visit to AT&T Texas with President Dave Nichols.
Students learned about the historical significance of the art and architecture of the Capitol as well as the organization of the Texas Legislature. After the tour, we walked to 816 Congress where students were afforded the opportunity to a round table luncheon with lobbyist Russell Kelley and AT&T's, Dave Nichols. They shared what they consider to be the most important attributes for their roles in business - integrity, honesty, relationship. They also reviewed the procedures of how a bill becomes a law and why this is a unique process in Texas.
