Each week, the young women of CP meet at Two Saints Bakery to discuss the feminine aspects of being in relationship with each other and in God. Each meeting is opened with a prayer asking that our hearts and minds be opened to the Truth that is coming to us during this day... and each meeting is closed with reading aloud the prayers that each member has hand written for blessing their friends, families and communities.
During these gatherings, I have seen diversity come together in unity; I have witnessed personal stories told with embarrassment and then be accepted and honored by the other listening members. I have heard the deeply felt thoughts, fears, questions, desires and dreams that these young woman carry in their hearts on a daily basis, and I have been amazed at the wise and caring advice that is given by their peers. This is a community of confident young women who are grounded in spirit and are developing lasting friendships that quite simply and profoundly strengthen each individual.
At a recent meeting, the topic of a Coaching was contemplated. Obviously these tennis fanatics have a great deal of experiences with coaches, but they were surprisingly quite cognizant (and appreciative) of the attributes that had very little to do with the technicalities of stroking a ball. Characteristics attributed to a great coach were: trustworthiness, leadership, listening, being a good role model, kindness, guidance, being supportive, pushing you beyond your limits, challenging you, believing in the best version of you.
As are most of these meetings... it was humbling to listen as they expressed how much they valued and wished to emulate these values.
So THANK YOU to all of the Great Coaches that make a difference in the lives of our children.
You should know that they understand and appreciate YOU and your gifts.
And you should also know that moms, dads, siblings and peers made the list of "A Great Coach!"
(Although "what happens at group stays at group"... this is an exceptional gift that is meant to be shared.)
